Cultural Enhancement Award

The City of Brooksville has received the "Cultural Enhancement Award" for the Bandshell Bash from the state of Florida presented by Senator Mel Martinez and Emilio Esteban. With the remark on the award: "What a great event for a city of that size to pull off and sustain"

Here at the Band Shell, our acts are always free to the public, supported by donations from our local business community. Did you know that just a few months after performing at the Band Shell, the Coasters performed in Spring Hill where the cost of each ticket was $45.00? Ours is an open outdoor event with plenty of seating available on our backed benches. Many also bring lawn chairs or blankets and sit on the lawn enjoying snacks and refreshments picnic style brought from home, or pick up snacks and refreshments from our several different food vendors - from ice-cream and sodas to sandwiches and pop-corn - you're comfortably entertained and guaranteed a pleasurable time.

It's not always crowded, but it is always fun, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on the second Saturday of each month. Our shows almost always include visits from our elected county commissioners, county tourism department members and city officials - it's a place to meet new people and interact with those sharing a common interest in good live entertainment in Hernando. Did you know that a full playground is right there adjacent to the left of the Band Shell? Bringing the young ones is never a problem. If they get bored or cranky they can take a break and play in the nice, safe, clean, colorful outdoor playground and be right within eyesight just yards away. A friendly police officer is always assigned and present, staying available to insure everyone's safe enjoyment of the show.
